성녀 아나스타시아(Saint Anastasia)에 대해 알려진 내용이 많지 않으나 그녀는 5세기부터 지금까지 로마에서 큰 공경을 받고 있다. 아나스타시아(Anastasia)의 이름의 뜻은 ‘부활’을 의미한다.
Not much is known about Saint Anastasia, but she has been greatly revered in Rome since the 5th century. The name Anastasia means ‘resurrection’.
전설에 따르면 그녀는 로마의 귀족 프레텍사투스(Praetexatus)와 시르미움의 성녀 파우스타(Saint Fausta)의 딸로 태어났다.
According to legend, she was the daughter of the Roman nobleman Praetexatus and Saint Fausta of Sirmium.
그녀는 어려서부터 어려서 아퀼레이아의 성 크리소고누스(Saint Chrysogonus)에게 교육을 받았다.
From an early age she was educated by Saint Chrysogonus of Aquileia.
이방인 남편과 결혼했지만 남편이 세상을 떠난 후 선교여행을 떠나 아퀼레이아에서 시르미움까지 갔다가 디오클레티아누스 황제의 박해로 그녀 역시 체포되었다.
She married a Gentile husband, but after his death, she went on a missionary trip from Aquileia to Sirmium, but was also arrested due to the persecution of Emperor Diocletian.
그녀는 배에 실려서 이탈리아 서북부 리구리아해(Ligurian Sea)의 팔마리아 섬으로 끌려갔는데, 그 배에는 죄수들이 가득해 괴롭힘을 당하다가 성녀 테오도타(Saint Theodota)의 도움으로 기적적으로 구출되기도 했다.
She was put on a ship and taken to the island of Palmaria in the Ligurian Sea in northwestern Italy. The ship was full of prisoners and she was harassed, but was miraculously rescued with the help of Saint Theodota.
또 다른 이야기에 따르면 디오클레티아누스 황제의 박해 때 감옥에 갇힌 신자들을 만나기 위해 아퀼레이아(Aquileia)에서 시르미움으로 갔다가 붙잡혀 같은 해 12월 25일 팔마리아(Palmaria) 섬에서 참수당하고 선종하였다고 전해진다.
According to another story, he went from Aquileia to Sirmium to meet believers imprisoned during the persecution of Emperor Diocletian, was captured, and was beheaded and died on the island of Palmaria on December 25 of the same year.
