성녀 에밀리아나(Saint Emiliana)는 교황 성 대 그레고리우스 1세(Pope Saint Gregory I)의 세 명의 고모 가운데 한 명이다.

Saint Emiliana is one of the three aunts of Pope Saint Gregory I.

 

그녀는 로마 귀족으로 태어났다. 그녀는 자신의 자매들과 함께 순결을 지키며 신앙생활에 헌신했다.

She was born into a Roman noble family. Together with her sisters, she maintained chastity and devoted herself to religious life.

 

그녀는 자신의 자매들과 함께 아버지의 집에 살면서 마치 수도생활을 하듯이 생활하였다. 하지만 고르디아나(Gordiana)는 침묵과 은둔 생활을 적응하는 것이 힘들었기 때문에 결혼하는 것을 결정했다.

She lived in her father's house with her sisters and lived a monastic life. However, Gordiana found it difficult to adapt to a life of silence and seclusion, so she decided to get married.

 

먼저 죽은 언니 성녀 타르실라(Saint Trasilla)가 어느 날 밤에 그들의 증조부인 교황 펠릭스 2세와 함께 그녀에게 발현하여 그녀의 죽음이 가까웠음을 예고해 주었다고 한다.

It is said that her older sister, Saint Trasilla, who died first, appeared to her one night along with their great-grandfather, Pope Felix II, and predicted that her death was near.

 

그 후 그녀는 곧 병이 들어 사망하였다고 전해진다.

It is said that she fell ill soon after that and died.
