성녀 아폴리나리스 신클레티카(Saint Apollinaris Syncletica)는 로마 순교록에는 이집트의 성녀이자 동정녀라고 기록되어 있다.
Saint Apollinaris Syncletica is recorded in the Roman Martyrology as an Egyptian saint and virgin.
하지만 역사가들은 그녀는 로마 황제 안테미우스의 딸로서 집을 뛰쳐나왔다고 한다. 그녀는 스스로 남장을 하고 이름도 도로테우스(Dorotheus)로 바꾸었다.
However, historians say that she ran away from home as the daughter of the Roman emperor Anthemius. She disguised herself as a man and changed her name to Dorotheus.
은수자 마카리우스(Macarius)의 가르침을 받으며 은수 생활을 하였다고 전한다. 한번은 왕궁에 있던 여동생이 악령에 시달리게 되었다.
It is said that he lived as a hermit under the teachings of the hermit Macarius. One time, my sister in the royal palace became tormented by an evil spirit.
어떤 이가 사막에 있는 도로테우스(Dorotheus)의 치유를 받아야 한다고 주장하여 그녀가 궁성으로 불려갔다. 그녀는 자신의 부친인 황제로부터 이것저것 질문을 당했을 때에도 신분을 드러내지 않았다.
Someone insisted that she be healed by Dorotheus in the desert, so she was summoned to the palace. Even when asked various questions by her father, the emperor, she did not reveal her identity.
자신의 기도로 여동생의 병을 치유한 후 다시 사막으로 갔다. 그녀가 여자인 것이 드러난 때는 그녀의 사망 후였다고 한다.
After healing his sister's illness through his prayers, he went back to the desert. It is said that it was after her death that she was revealed to be a woman.
