성녀 카밀라 바티스타 바라노(Saint Camilla Battista da Varano)는 이탈리아에서 태어나 10살 때쯤 어느 신부의 강론을 듣고 큰 감명을 받았다.

Saint Camilla Battista da Varano was born in Italy and was greatly impressed by a priest's sermon when she was about 10 years old. 

 

그 후 그녀는 그 신부에게 수많은 편지를 보내면서 자신의 영성생활에 진보를 가져왔다. 어린 그녀는 매주 금요일마다 그리스도의 사랑을 묵상하고 모든 어려움을 극복하는 놀라운 영적 진보를 가져왔다.

After that, she made progress in her spiritual life by sending numerous letters to the priest. As a child, she meditated on the love of Christ every Friday and made remarkable spiritual progress overcoming all difficulties. 

 

그녀는 오로지 회개생활에만 관심이 있었고 차츰차츰 수도생활을 열망하게 되었다. 1481년 그녀는 클라라회에 입회하였다.

She was only interested in a life of repentance, and gradually she aspired to live a monastic life. In 1481 she entered the Order of Clara. 

 

그후 그녀는 그리스도의 수난에 대한 신비적인 계시를 받기 시작하였고 그 계시를 글로 표현한 것이 “예수의 괴로운 마음의 고통”이란 책이다.

After that, she began to receive mystical revelations about the Passion of Christ, and the revelations were expressed in writing in the book “The Pain of the Painful Heart of Jesus.” 

 

또한 그녀는 성령의 놀라운 은총에 관한 책을 썼으며 철저히 가난한 생활을 하였다. 그녀는 1524년 66세의 나이로 선종했다.

She also wrote a book about the amazing grace of the Holy Spirit and lived a life of complete poverty. She died in 1524 at the age of 66.
