아론(Aaron)의 의미는 확실하지는 않지만 ‘높은 산’ 또는 ‘높은, 고위층의’를 뜻하는 것으로 추정된다.

The meaning of Aaron is unclear, but it is presumed to mean ‘high mountain’ or ‘high, high-ranking person.’ 

 

아론(Aaron)은 이스라엘 백성이 결정적으로 하느님을 체험했던 이집트 탈출 사건과 이어지는 광야 여정 중 모세와 함께 중심적인 역할을 한 인물이다.

Aaron is a figure who played a central role, along with Moses, during the Exodus from Egypt and the subsequent wilderness journey in which the Israelites decisively experienced God. 

 

그는 모세의 형제이며 공동 지도자로 이스라엘의 합법적인 사제 계급의 시조라고 할 수 있다.

He is Moses' brother and co-leader, and can be said to be the founder of Israel's legitimate priestly class. 

 

이스라엘 백성의 해방을 위해 벌인 파라오와의 담판에서 그는 모세의 대변인이었을 뿐만 아니라 주도적인 역할을 수행하였다.

In the negotiations with Pharaoh for the liberation of the Israelites, he was not only Moses' spokesman but also played a leading role. 

 

또 바다를 건너 이집트를 탈출한 이후의 광야 여정에서도 그는 모세와 함께 공동 지도자로서 이스라엘 백성을 이끌었으며, 갈증과 배고픔을 호소하는 사람들의 불평을 듣고, 그들에게 메추라기와 만나를 통해 하느님께서 보여 주실 자비와 구원을 선포하였다.

Also, during the wilderness journey after escaping from Egypt across the sea, he led the Israelites as a co-leader with Moses. He listened to the people's complaints of thirst and hunger, and God showed them mercy through quail and manna. and proclaimed salvation. 

 

주님께서는 모세와 아론에게 말씀하셨다. “이제 아론은 선조들 곁으로 간다. 너희가 므리바의 샘에서 나의 분부를 거역하였으므로, 아론은 내가 이스라엘 자손들에게 준 땅으로 들어가지 못한다. 너는 아론과 그의 아들 엘아자르를 데리고 호르 산으로 올라가서, 아론의 옷을 벗겨 그의 아들 엘아자르에게 입혀라. 아론은 선조들 곁으로 간다. 그는 거기에서 죽을 것이다.”

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron: “Now Aaron is going to be with his ancestors. Because you rebelled against my command at the spring of Meribah, Aaron will not enter the land I gave to the Israelites. Take Aaron and his son Eleazar up to Mount Hor. Take Aaron's clothes and put them on his son Eleazar. Aaron goes to his ancestors. He will die there.”
