성녀 즈디슬라바(Saint Zdislava)는 불과 일곱 살의 어린 나이에 인근의 숲 속으로 들어가서 홀로 기도생활을 시작했다고 한다.
It is said that Saint Zdislava went into a nearby forest at the young age of only seven and began a life of prayer alone.
물론 가족들의 손에 이끌려 돌아왔고 이 때문에 부모는 일찍이 그녀를 어느 귀족과 결혼시켰다.
Of course, she was led back by her family, and because of this, her parents early on married her to a nobleman.
그녀는 네 자녀를 낳았으나 남편은 어린 아내를 항상 매정하게 대했다. 그녀는 항상 남편을 이해하려고 애썼고 또 가난한 사람들을 위해서 자선활동에 전념하였다.
She gave birth to four children, but her husband always treated his young wife harshly. She always tried to understand her husband and devoted herself to charity work for the poor.
그러던 어느 날 타타르족이 침입하여 그들의 머무는 성이 함락되었을 때 남편이 어느 걸인을 침대에 재운 적이 있었다. 그러나 이 걸인은 그리스도의 발현이었다.
Then one day, when the Tatars invaded and the castle they were staying in fell, she's husband let a beggar sleep in his bed. But this beggar was a manifestation of Christ.
이에 크게 감명을 받은 남편은 아내를 성 도미니코 수도회의 제3회원(Third Order of Saint Dominic)이 되게 하였다. 그녀는 자주 탈혼(ecstasy)에 빠졌고 매일같이 성체(Eucharist)를 모셨고 1252년 1월 1일 선종하였다.
The husband was greatly impressed by this and made his wife a member of the Third Order of Saint Dominic. She frequently fell into ecstasy, received the Eucharist every day, and died on January 1, 1252.
