성 에파프로디토(Saint Epaphroditus)는 마케도니아(Macedonia) 지방 필리피(Philippi)의 첫 주교로 인정받고 있다.
Saint Epaphroditus is recognized as the first bishop of Philippi, Macedonia.
사도 성 바오로(Saint Paul the Apostle)는 다음과 같이 그를 소개하였다.
Saint Paul the Apostle introduced him as follows:
“나는 에파프로디토(Saint Epaphroditus)도 여러분에게 보내야 한다고 생각합니다. 그는 나의 형제이고 협력자이며 전우이고 여러분의 대표이며, 내가 곤궁할 때에 나를 도와준 봉사자입니다.”
“I think I should send you Saint Epaphroditus too. He is my brother, collaborator, comrade in arms, your representative, and a volunteer who helped me when I was in need.”
또한 목숨을 걸고 그리스도를 위해 일하다가 죽음에까지 가까이 갔던 사람이라며 그의 덕을 치하하였다.
He also praised his virtue, saying that he was a man who risked his life to work for Christ and even came close to death.
그는 또한 사도 성 바오로(Saint Paul the Apostle)가 복음 선포에 헌신할 수 있도록 필리피(Philippi) 신자들과 함께 정성을 모아 재정적 도움을 주기도 했다.
He also worked with the Philippi believers and provided financial help to Saint Paul the Apostle so that he could devote himself to proclaiming the Gospel.

“나는 모든 것을 다 받아 넉넉하게 되었습니다. 여러분이 성 에파프로디토(Saint Epaphroditus) 편에 보낸 것을 받아 풍족합니다. 그것은 향기로운 예물이며 하느님 마음에 드는 훌륭한 제물입니다.”
“I have received everything and have plenty. I am blessed to have received what you sent to Saint Epaphroditus. “It is a fragrant offering, an excellent offering pleasing to God.”
