성 네레오와 아킬레우스(Saints Nereus and Achilleus)는 그리스도교 박해 때 순교한 것으로 알려졌으나 생몰 연대는 불분명하다.
한 전승에 따르면 그들은 그리스도교 신자인 성녀 플라비아 도미틸라(Saint Flavia Domitilla)를 죽이라고 파견된 군인들이었다. 그런데 그녀의 모범적 생활에 감동해 오히려 그리스도교 신자가 되어 자신들이 받은 명령을 거부하였다.

According to one tradition, they were soldiers sent to kill Saint Flavia Domitilla, a Christian. However, they were so moved by her exemplary life that they became Christians and refused the orders they received.
그들은 그녀와 함께 로마에서 폰자(Ponza) 섬으로 추방되었다. 이후 그녀는 화형을 그리고 그들은 참수형을 받고 순교하였다. 그들은 이미 고대 교회 때부터 순교자로서 공경받고 있다.

They were exiled with her from Rome to the island of Ponza. Afterwards, she was burned at the stake and they were beheaded and martyred. They have been revered as martyrs since the ancient church.
