키오스의 성녀 미로페(Saint Myrope of Chios)는 어린 나이에 아버지를 여의고 어머니에게 그리스도교 신앙을 배우며 성장했다고 한다.
It is said that Saint Myrope of Chios lost her father at a young age and grew up learning the Christian faith from her mother.
박해가 시작되었을 때 그녀는 어머니와 함께 키오스섬으로 갔고 그곳에서 병자들을 돌보고 순교자들의 무덤을 자주 순례하며 경건한 삶을 살았다.
When the persecution began, she went with her mother to the island of Chios, where she lived a pious life, caring for the sick and making frequent pilgrimages to the tombs of martyrs.
그녀는 이교도의 신상 앞에 희생제물 바치기를 거부하고 용감하게 순교하여 우물에 던져진 성 이시도르(Saint Isidore)의 시신을 정성 들여 수습하여 매장해주었다.
She painstakingly collected and buried the body of Saint Isidore, who had been bravely martyred and thrown into a well after refusing to offer sacrifices to pagan gods.
그녀는 그 일로 해서 체포되었다. 그녀는 몽둥이로 심한 매질을 당한 후 감옥에 갇혔는데, 고문의 결과로 옥중에서 숨을 거두었다.
She was arrested for it. She was beaten severely with sticks and then thrown into prison, where she died as a result of the torture.
그녀의 무덤에서 여러 차례 치유 기적이 일어나면서 그 위에 기념성이 건립되었다고 한다.
It is said that several healing miracles occurred at her grave, and a memorial monument was built over it.
