마르시아노의 복녀 안젤리나(Blessed Angelina of Marsciano)는 1357년 이탈리아에서 백작의 딸로 태어났다.
Blessed Angelina of Marsciano was born in Italy in 1357 as the daughter of a count.
그러나 그녀는 어린 나이에 고아가 되어 여섯 살 때부터 조부모 밑에서 자랐다. 그리고 15살 때에 본인의 뜻과 관계없이 저명한 집안 청년과 결혼했으나 채 2년을 살지 못하고 남편을 잃고 과부가 되었다.
However, she was orphaned at a young age and raised by her grandparents from the age of six. And at the age of 15, against her will, she married a young man from a prominent family, but she did not live for two years before losing her husband and becoming a widow.
이때부터 그녀는 자신의 삶을 하느님께 봉헌하기로 마음먹고 성 프란치스코 수도회 제3회(Third Order of Saint Francis)에 입회하였다.
From then on, she decided to consecrate her life to God and joined the Third Order of Saint Francis.
그녀와 뜻을 같이하는 여성들이 합류하자 그녀는 동료들과 함께 엄격한 규칙에 따라 생활하며 다른 사람들에게 영적 · 물질적 도움을 베풀기 시작했다.
As like-minded women joined her, she and her colleagues began to live by strict rules and provide spiritual and material help to others.
그녀와 동료들은 자선 외에도 참회와 순결을 가치를 설교하며 고행을 실천하고, 그리스도를 위해 동정을 지키는 성소를 소녀들 안에서 일깨우는 운동을 전개하기도 했다.
In addition to charity, she and her colleagues preached the values of repentance and chastity, practiced asceticism, and developed a movement to awaken in girls the vocation of virginity for Christ.
불과 18세의 젊은 과부였던 그녀는 천사의 성모 마리아 대성당(Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels)에서 기도하던 중 환시를 체험하였다.
As a young widow at just 18 years old, she experienced a vision while praying at the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels.
주님께서는 그녀에게 폴리뇨(Foligno)로 가서 작은 형제회 제3회(Third Order of Saint Francis)의 규칙을 따르는 수도원을 설립하라는 명을 받았다.
The Lord commanded her to go to Foligno and found a monastery following the rules of the Third Order of Saint Francis.
1397년 새로운 성 프란치스코 율수 3회 수도원(Franciscan Third Order Regular)을 설립한 그녀는 1435년 7월 14일 선종하였다.
She founded the new Franciscan Third Order Regular in 1397 and died on July 14, 1435.
