성녀 요안나 앙티드 투레(Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret)는 1765년 11월 27일 프랑스에서 제혁업자의 딸로 태어났으나 그녀의 나이 16세 때 어머니가 사망하자 가사를 전담했다.

Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret was born in France on November 27, 1765, the daughter of a tanner, but when her mother died when she was 16, she took charge of the household. 

 

그녀는 1787년에 파리(Paris)의 성 빈첸시오 애덕 자매회(Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul)에 입회하였다.

She entered the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul in Paris in 1787. 

 

그러나 프랑스의 혁명 정부가 수도회를 해체시키자 그녀는 어린이들을 위한 학교를 열었고, 가난한 이들과 병자들을 돌보는 한편 혁명으로 피해 다니는 사제들을 숨겨주었다. 이 사건 때문에 그녀는 1796년 스위스로 도망가야 했다.

However, when France's revolutionary government disbanded the monasteries, she opened a school for children, cared for the poor and the sick, and hid priests fleeing the revolution. Because of this incident, she had to flee to Switzerland in 1796. 

 

그 후 그녀는 학교를 개교해 달라는 부탁을 받고 1799년에 학교를 세웠다. 그녀의 공동체가 급성장하자 그녀는 불우여성 수용소를 세웠다.

Afterwards, she was asked to open a school, and she established one in 1799. As her community grew rapidly, she established a shelter for underprivileged women. 

 

이후 이 공동체는 애덕의 딸 수녀회(Sisters of Divine Charity)란 이름으로 승인하였다. 만년에 그녀는 이탈리아에 수녀회를 세우는데 전념하다가 1826년 8월 24일 선종하였다.

This community later received the name Sisters of Divine Charity. In her later years, she devoted herself to establishing a convent in Italy and died on August 24, 1826.
